George Gritzbachs early recordings were on independent labels, Kicking Mule and Flying Fish. These recordings reflected his roots in country blues and folk blues idioms. Georges early influences include: Robert Johnson, Skip James, Blind Blake, Rev Gary Davis, Bukka White, Lightning Hopkins, Muddy Waters and Libba Cotton to name a few. On Whoa Yeah! You can still hear shades of country blues melding with the urban sounds of Buddy Guy, Elmore James, BB King, Albert King, Magic Slim, Little Walter all the way to Little Feat. Is a cross section of roots music moving from Blues and R&B to outlaw country, folk and New Orleans feels.The lyrics are laced with hooks, humor and operate on several levels, close to the surface and a cut or two below.
